Jaffna University students condemn circulation of false party aligned election statements

The Jaffna University Student’s Union (JUSU) condemned the circulation of false political statements that aligned the organisation to political parties.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the JUSU said,

“Statements have not yet been officially released by the JUSU with regards to the parliamentary elections taking place on 17/8/2015. We condemn that in the past few days statements impersonating the students union have been published on press and some websites and some parties using them pro their election campaign. As our previous students have, we continue to ensure that our actions are unique, impartial and assert the Tamil Nation.”

The statement added that it was “insulting to the culture of the Union if representatives of the union were using the union’s image for their personal and political benefits.”
