The leader of the Bodu Bala Sena has accused Rauff Hakeem, the head of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress of being a “political prostitute” and accused him of conspiring to separate the country, together with opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the Tamil National Alliance.
Speaking a day after the SLMC’s defection to the opposition, BBS leader Galabode Gnanasara said Hakeem had done the same thing in 2005 and 2010, when he also defected to the opposition.
“This time he is halfway through, and repeated the same move,” he charged.
He accused the SLMC leader of leaking evidence of war crimes to the international community with the support of the TNA and that the party was involved in a conspiracy with Maithripala and the TNA to separate Sri Lanka.
On Saturday Gnanasara announced that there was no change in the BBS’ stance to support President Rajapaksa.
“In the Upcoming Presidential election the ruling party candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa will be supported fully by the Bodu Bala Sena as per the unanimous decision taken by the organisation and there is no change in its resolution,” he said.
“For the sake of our motherland, it has been decided unanimously that the Bodu Bala Sena will be extending its fullest cooperation and support to the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. In this resolution there is no other change. This decision has been taken in order to protect our country from the expected disaster,
“In order to defeat the vengeful and hostile politician’s dirty alliance, we have to support the ruling party government,” he said.
