Navy runs medical clinics in Mannar church and school

The Sri Lankan Navy has organised a medical at a church and school in Mannar earlier this month, as they marked the 5th anniversary of the SLNS Barana Navy base.

According to the Ministry of Defence website, the even was “conducted under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral NKD Nanayakkara in view of the 5th anniversary of SLNS Barana Navy base.”

The Barana Navy base in Mullikulam has been the site of intense controversy after the Sri Lankan armed forces forcibly seized swathes of land and displaced the local Tamil population in 2007. See more here.
