TNA - 'pleased by revisions to draft resolution'

As the second draft of the UNHRC resolution on Sri Lanka was circulated amongst diplomatic missions, international NGOs and Tamil activists on Friday, the TNA said it was "pleased by the revisions".

Commenting via twitter, the TNA said,
"TNA pleased by revisions to draft resolution, esp re intl inquiry on SL at #HRC25."

"Revised draft clarifies and strengthens envisaged investigation. Provides basis for robust intl inquiry by experts"

Much of the focus of the debate over the text of the resolution has centred around the call for an investigation. The latest draft now calls on the High Commissioner for Human Rights "to lead a comprehensive investigation into alleged serious violations and abuses of human rights and related crimes by both parties in Sri Lanka and establish the facts and circumstances of such violations and of the crimes committed with a view to avoiding impunity and ensuring accountability, with assistance from relevant experts."
