Tamil landowners held a protest yesterday against the illegally constructed Buddhist temple in Thaiyiddy, Jaffna amidst a heavy presence of the Sri Lankan police.
The Tissa Rajamaha vihara has been constructed unlawfully on land seized from local Tamil residents as part of the ongoing Sinhalisation of the North-East.
The landowners have been staging protests against this illegal temple every full moon day since 2023, despite surveillance by Sri Lankan police and army.
