Liz Truss reaffirms her commitment to reconciliation, justice and accountability in Sri Lanka

Ahead of the conservative leadership contest, Britain’s potential next Prime Minister and current foreign secretary, Liz Truss, spoke to British Tamil conservatives and reaffirmed her commitment to reconciliation, justice, and accountability in Sri Lanka.

“I am determined to stand up for human rights and ensure proper reconciliation, justice, and accountability”, Truss stated.

She added that, if appointed Prime Minister, she would keep in mind these commitments when considering the next foreign secretary.

Truss also highlighted her concerns over the growing undue influence of China in the region. “I will work with G7 to provide alternatives to dependency on China”, she maintained.

Her conversation follows a similar dialogue held by her rival, former Chancellor Rishi Sunak, and British Tamil Conservatives.
