TNA MPs visit Anuradhapura prison where Tamil prisoners were held at gunpoint by drunken Sri Lankan minister

Two Tamil National Alliance (TNA) members of parliament have visited  Anuradhapura prison where Tamil prisoners were forced to kneel at gunpoint by a drunken Sri Lankan minister.

M.A Sumanthiran and Shanakiyan Rasamanickam visited the prison and inquired into the recent events which took place earlier this month. Shanakiyan called on the Sri Lankan Government to "take necessary steps to hold those involved accountable for their actions."

Earlier this month Sri Lankan state minister Lohan Ratwatte forced Tamil inmates detained in the Anuradhapura prison to kneel down at gunpoint. Ratwatte was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he entered the premises and demanded Tamil prisoners to perform the humiliating act.

It is understood that Ratwatte also took his friends along to the prison, who were also inebriated, and threatened the Tamil prisoners.
