<p>Sri Lankan Navy personnel and their families were transported from the South of the island to military-run quarantine centres in the North-East earlier this week.</p>
<p>Over 500 individuals were brought in 17 buses to Pampaimadu Army camp in Vavuniya, Tamil Net <u><a href="https://tamilnet.com/art.html?catid=13&artid=39836">reported</a></u>.</p>
<p>Sri Lankan Navy and police attempted to block two Tamil journalists from videoing the fleet of 17 buses carrying the individuals. The Sri Lankan Navy blocked the A9 road while the police pressed the journalists not to publish the videos.</p>
<p>Despite protests by locals and politicians who expressed their concern in setting up these centres in the North-East regions, the military has continued to establish quarantine centres in the area.</p>
