<p>Two Sri Lankan army officers were arrested today over the attempted extortation of money from a sand mining businessman in Thanamalwila. </p>
<p>The two officers reportedly asked for Rs 500,000 from the businessman. </p>
<p>One of the suspects is believed to be the army captain of Weerawila camp. </p>
<p>The arrest follows that of a sub inspector last week over the abduction and murder of two businessmen in Rathgama. </p>
<p>The victims, 33-year-old Manjula Asela and 31-year-old Rasen Chinthaka, both from Rathna Udagama, Boosa, were murdered. Their bodies burnt at the Kanumuldeniya-Megdagamgoda Forest Reserve in Walasmulla. Bone and teeth fragments have been discussed at the site. </p>
