Sri Lanka stops crude oil imports from Iran in anticipation of US sanctions

Sri Lanka has stopped crude oil imports from Iran in anticipation of US sanctions against the Iranian government.

"We stopped as soon as the sanctions were announced. We didn’t buy [directly] from Iran. We buy from Singapore, Dubai, Fujairah,” Sri Lankan petroleum resources development minister Arjuna Ranatunga said, according to The National.

Sri Lanka was importing nearlyall  of its 50,000 barrels per day from Iran, the newspaper reports, and still meets its oil requirements through imports alone, although the minister did not comment on where the imports are currently coming from.
