The UN Special Rapporteur on truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-recurrence arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday, for a six day visit.
Mr Pablo de Greiff is to meet with the government and civil society organisations, as well as meeting with Tamil groups in the North.
A Sri Lankan foreign ministry official was quoted by the Sunday Times as saying: “He is here on an exploratory visit and for consultations."
The visit comes ahead of a planned visit by the UN Working Group for Enforced Disappearances and a visit by the team of the OHCHR Investigation on Sri Lanka (OISL).
