Kenya has announced the launch of a brand new $13.8 billion which will run across East Africa to reach Burundi, the DRC and Sudan, funded by the Chinese state owned China Road and Bridge Corporation.
Kenya's President Kenyatta hailed the project, stated it would “define my legacy as President of Kenya”.
He went on to thank Chinese President Xi Jinping, praising his "great personal interest in the project and his government's immense support", and for China's "massive infrastructural projects in the country", which "reduced the cost of doing business and created employment through increased investments".
China's ambassador to Kenya Liu Guangyuan also commented,
