Tamils began their rally from Valvettithurai towards Mullivaikkal this morning as the Tamil nation remembers the genocide that took place 13 years ago.
The rally began in Valvettithurai, the hometown of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran and headed towards Mullivaikkal, where tens of thousands of Tamils were massacred by the state's forces in the final days of the armed conflict.
Before heading towards towards Mullivaikkal, kanji was served at Valvettithurai Muthumari Amman Temple, as part of the commemorations taking place during Mullivaikkal remembrance week.
