Sri Lankan ministers and monks on Buddhist pilgrimage to Pakistan

The Speaker of Sri Lanka’s Parliament is leading a delegation of 40 Buddhist monks and ministers to visit Pakistan's Gandhara Trail, where they will visti significant Buddhist sites and meet with Pakistani officials.

Karu Jayasuriya left for the week long trip with the senior Buddhist monks and will also be joined by other Sri Lankan ministers, including Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa.

Upon arriving at Punjab University in Pakistan, Mr Jayasuriya praised Pakistan’s assistance in “fighting terrorism” during the island’s armed conflict.

The Sri Lankan delegation is also set to meet with Pakistan's president and other high ranking government officials.
