Sri Lankan military’s Psychological Operations wing holds meetings on ‘Muslim fundamentalism'

The Sri Lankan military’s Psychological Operations department held a series of public meetings in the last week, reportedly “in view of the recent upsurge of violence and the birth of Muslim fundamentalism”.

Troops from the 14 Division Headquarters conducted “lectures” at the Red Mosque in Wellawatta, as well as a temple in Malwana and two more lectures for priests, teachers and students at St Peter’s College and Good Shepherd Convent.

The ‘Psychological Operations’ wing of the military has been active for several years and in 2017 received training from the US military.
