The Sri Lankan military organised a clean up of the grounds of a hospital in Kilinochchi in May, almost 9 years after the area was heavily bombarded by the very same security forces.
The 1st Sri Lanka Singha Regiment of 573 Brigade went to Rural Hospital in Kandavali where they cut weeds and swept the grounds of the hospital.
9 years ago, Kilinochchi, the former LTTE stronghold, was the target of a massive Sri Lanka military offensive. Hospitals were repeatedly hit by Sri Lankan shells and tens of thousands of Tamils massacred.
Since then, the military has continued to occupy large swathes of land and played an increasingly intrusive role in civilian life in the area.
