Sajith, Mahinda and Maithripala all pray for Sinhala Buddhist monk

Sajith Premadasa, a senior UNP leader, joined Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maithripala Sirisena at a religious ceremony in Colombo this week, to invoke blessings on a Sinhala Buddhist monk who has marched against an international investigation into human rights abuses.

The three leaders jointly took part in the Buddhist religious ceremony, praying for the health of Galabodaththe Gnanissara, the Chief Incumbent of Hunupitiaya Ganagarama Temple.

Also present was senior UNP leader and Minister of Economic Reform and Public Distribution, Harsha de Silva, who tweeted a photograph of him attending the ceremony, sat on the front row.

The 75-year-old monk is currently undergoing medical treatment.

In 2014, Gnanissara led a march to the US embassy in Colombo, denouncing calls for an independent international investigation into violations of international law, committed as the Sri Lankan military carried out a massive military offensive that killed tens of thousands of Tamils.
