Russia stripped of G8 summit

The G8 summit will not be held in Russia this year, said the British Premier, David Cameron  during his visit to the Netherlands today.

Urging Russia to respond to recent sanctions and change its course Cameron said,

“We should be clear there’s not going to be a G8 summit in Russia”

“We remain ready to intensify actions including coordinated sectoral sanctions that will have an increasingly significant impact on the Russian economy, id Russia continues to escalate this situation. Russia has a clear choice to make. Diplomatic avenues to de-escalate the situation remain open, and we encourage the Russian government to take them.”

The G7 leaders declared the decision after meeting in The Hague to attend a nuclear summit.
