Militarisation: Sri Lankan army organises school seminar in Muttur

The Sri Lankan army continued with its militarisation of the North-East, by organising a seminar for students in Muttur last week.

The seminar was reportedly a part of the military’s ongoing ‘community project’.

More than a decade has passed since the end of the armed conflict and yet the North-East continues to be occupied by the military. Tens of thousands of Sri Lankan soldiers are stationed across the North-East, where Tamil politicians and civil society organisations have criticised their intrusion into civilian life.
