The British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Sarah Hulton, held a series of discussion in Mannar and Vavuniya today, as she embarked on a visit to the North-East.

“Visiting beautiful Mannar,” she tweeted, alongside photographs of a Hindu temple, church and mosque. “The diversity of religious and ethnic groups is a reminder that respecting one another's beliefs and practices helps us create inclusive societies which thrive.”

Hulton met with Mannar District Secretary Stanley de Mel, as well as students at St. Xavier’s Girls College and Bishop Emmanuel Fernando.

Later on in the day, Hulton visited the newly established University of Vavuniya.
