Two police officers were arrested in Vavuniya on March 19, following the earlier arrest of five men two days prior for treasure hunting near the Poompukar Crematorium in Vavuniya.
Following the initial investigation, the 2 police officers were arrested.
One of the officers previously work in Vavuniya Eechchamkulam police station, whilst the other currently works under Vavuniya police division. It is understood that the 5 suspects had been in constant communication with the two police officers.
