The Sri Lankan government on Tuesday said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' visit to the island this week is unrelated to the UN Human Rights Council's resolution on accountability in the country, The Hindu reported.
The Indian paper quoted the spokesperson of Sri Lanka's ministry of foreign affairs, Mahishini Colonne as saying "the visit was in response to an invitation extended by the government in February 2015, many months before the adoption of the resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council in October."
Asked about the agenda of the UN Human Rights Chief, the spokesperson was quoted by the paper as saying he had "no agenda".
