The families of the disappeared in Vavuniya continued their ongoing protest on June 8th, marking 2,300 days of continuous protest. The families have been protesting on rotation for 2,300 days, demanding the return of their loved ones and an international mechanism to ensure justice.

On the day of the protest, the families held various banners calling for the resignation of the Head of the International Monetary Fund and photographs of their family members who were forcibly disappeared. They also called for the intervention of the United States and the European Union to help bring about justice.

The protest is a reminder of the ongoing human rights crisis in Sri Lanka. Thousands of people that surrendered to the military have been forcibly disappeared since the end of the ethnic war. The families of the disappeared are calling for an end to the impunity that has allowed this crisis to continue.
