Vavuniya families commemorate Tamil diaspora deaths from COVID-19

Tamil families of the disappeared in Vavuniya commemorated deaths that have taken place in the diaspora due to the coronavirus this week, in a remembrance ceremony on their 1,154th day of their protest.

Family members, who have been protesting for years and demanding information on their forcibly disappeared loved ones, lit candles in memory of those across the world who had passed away in recent weeks.

Amongst those commemorated was Dr Anton Sebastianpillai, a British Tamil doctor who died whilst serving on the frontlines of the NHS in London. Also commemorated was 30-year-old Thillainathan Ananthavarnan, a former newsreader and editor with TTN.
