Tree planting tribute held in Vavuniya for actor Vivek

A tree planting ceremony was held in Vavuniya last week in tribute to legendary Tamil actor and comedian Vivek.

The celebrated Kollywood actor and comedian passed away at age 59 last Saturday after being admitted to a private Chennai hospital due to a sudden cardiac arrest.

A floral wreath was laid at his portrait and attendees planted tree saplings as a tribute to the actor’s mission to plant 10 million trees across Tamil Nadu. Since launching the ‘Green Kalam’ Project in 2011, Vivek had planted over 3 million saplings with youth activists.

The event was led by the local Grama Sevakar and attended by many leaders, activists, organisations, and locals.
