Tamils in Vavuniya mark Maaveerar Naal amidst heavy rain

Tamils held commemorations in Vavuniya to mark Maaveerar Naal despite the heavy rainfall.

Tamils gathered at the grounds near Eechankulam Thuyilum Illam to pay their respects for fallen LTTE cadres as the Sri Lankan army now occupy the land where thousands of LTTE bodies were buried.

Pakkiam, the mother of two fallen cadres, lit the sacrificial lamp.

A remembrance event was also held at Vavuniya Municipal Council

The mother of Colonel Ayan and Major Vani lit the inaugral lamp. Tamil families of the disappeared were also present at the event.

Flowers were laid and candles lit to remember the fallen.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
