Tamils in Point Pedro, Jaffna, commemorated the victims of the Mullivaikkal genocide today.

The commemoration was organised by the Point Pedro Traders Association.
The sacrificial lamp was lit by Mr K Yoganathan, who was a witness to the massacres in Mullivaikkal in 2009. Local traders and members of the public laid flowers in remembrance of the Tamils that were killed in Sri Lanka's military offensive.
Commemorations are taking place across the North-East and diaspora today.
Although 17 years have passed since the genocide, the Tamil nation remains defiant in its pursuit for justice and accountability.
