Tamil father dies following 14-year search for son

A Tamil father died today after spending 14 years searching for his son, who was abducted in Wellawette, Colombo.

60-year-old Vairaimuthu Sivakumar, from Echchankulam in Vavuniya, passed away without getting any answers or justice for his son, who was taken in 2006.

Sivakumar spent the last three years relentlessly protesting with the families of the disappeared demanding for answers to his son, Jathavakumar Sivakumar’s whereabouts. He spent over 1,220 days continously protesting with the families of the disappeared in Vavuniya. 

Last week, a Tamil father from Cheddikulam also passed away searching for his son, adding to the dozens of relatives who have died without seeing justice.
