Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence to receive largest allocation of 2018 budget

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence will see the largest portion of budget allocation in 2018 reports dailymirror.lk

The 2018 budget bill will be presented by Sri Lanka’s Finance and Mass Media minister Mangala Samaraweera on November 9.

The former foreign affairs minister Mangala Samraweera, briefed Sri Lanka’s cabinet ministers on an Appropriation Bill outlining preliminary budget allocations for 2018.

 “Based on the Medium Term Budgetary Framework 2018-2020 and the policy framework of the government, the General Treasury has conducted budget discussions with the line ministries and other spending agencies. Accordingly, budgetary provisions have been made taking into consideration of the total resource envelope available in 2018,” he said in a memo to parliament.  

A budget hearing is expected to take place in November, with a final vote on the third reading of the budget on December 9.
