The Sri Lankan Navy has confirmed that naval warships from Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Pakistan have arrived at the Colombo Port on official visits, as part of ongoing military engagements with foreign forces in recent weeks.

According to the Navy’s media division, the Pakistani warship, PNS Aslat, arrived in Colombo on 1st February and was welcomed with formal Sri Lankan Navy traditions. The vessel, a 123-metre-long warship, is crewed by 243 personnel and commanded by Captain Muhammad Azhar Akram. It is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka on 4th February.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Navy’s KRI Bung Tomo 357, a 97-metre-long Multirole Light Frigate, docked at the Colombo port on 31st January for a replenishment visit. The vessel, commanded by Captain Dedy Gunawan Widyatmoko, carried a crew of 111 personnel. After completing its supply and servicing requirements, the ship departed on 1st February.

The Bangladeshwarship, PNS Somudra Joy, also arrived in Colombo on 31st January for a formal visit. The vessel was scheduled to depart on 2nd February. During its stay, Captain Md. Shahriar Alam, the ship’s commanding officer, met with Rear Admiral Chandima Silva at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. In addition to diplomatic engagements, the crew members visited key sites around Colombo, while Sri Lankan Navy personnel participated in briefings on the ship’s operations.

The latest visits come as Sri Lanka continues to try and build ties with governments around the world, despite its military being accused of committing a genocide and several rights abuses.
