The commander of the Sri Lankan army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva sought blessings from Buddhists monks for the year ahead on Saturday, as he presented offerings at the Temple of the Tooth on Saturday.
Accompanied by other senior military commanders the commander “paid his obeisance” and “offered a special memento” to several of the monks at the temple, according the Sri Lanka’s official army website.

The Buddhist monks then “invoked blessings on the Army and its onward march and wished the Army would continue to perform its noble role of protecting the country in the future too” it reported.
