Reiterating the Sri Lankan government's objection to the resolution, Sri Lanka's special envoy for human rights Mahinda Samarasinghe asserted that Sri Lanka would not comply.
Mr. Samarasinghe, also the Minister of Plantations, said on Saturday,

“We had clearly stated we are fully against the resolution. They will now try to implement the resolution but we will not provide any facilities or assistance to those who try to implement the resolution.”Commenting on India's decision to abstain, Mr. Samarasinghe urged that Sri Lanka "must build on this goodwill shown by India".
Mr. Samarasinghe, also the Minister of Plantations, said on Saturday,
“India voted with Sri Lanka on the vote on the ‘no action motion’ while they also voted with us on deleting the operative paragraph 10,”
“The Indian Ambassador used two very important words - ‘intrusive’ and ‘constructive’. Those two words said all about the resolution. We must build on this goodwill shown by India.”
“We have to act more cordially with them.”
