Following the deaths of 13 South African peacekeeping forces in eastern Congo. President Kagame has called the SAMIDRC forces a 'belligerent' force engaged in combative operations with DRC forces against Congolese people.

In a post on X formerly known as Twitter. Kagame stated that the SAMIDRC had displaced the 'true' peacekeeping forces of the the East African Community Regional Force which had contributed to the failure of the peace process.

He also noted that the South African President had confirmed to him that 13 soldiers were killed by DRC armed forces and not M23.
