Protesters shot and journalist assaulted by Sri Lankan security forces in Colombo

As demonstrators stormed the residence of Sri Lanka’s President, reports emerge that two people have been shot close to the President’s house.

They have since been admitted to Colombo National Hospital.

 

The violence follows calls from the US and UN for Sri Lankan authorities to avoid excessive violence.

Journalists were also assaulted outside the residence of the Prime Minister, The attack was carried out by Sri Lanka Police and members of the Special Task Force.
