Protest organisers in Vali North receive death warnings

Tamil campaigners and members of the elected body who had been organising protests against land grab in Valikaamam North, found the heads of dead cows on their doorsteps on Monday morning - an act that is considered a death threat.

Global Tamil News reported that the individuals who had been targeted had been arranging a hunger strike protest to coincide with the the Commonwealth leaders' meet taking place this week.

Two elected members of the Pradesiya Sabha also reported receiving anonymous phone calls threatening them that if they continued with the protest they would find further heads of dead cows on their door step.
