Police collect information from Vavuniya landlords

Sri Lankan police this week instructed landlords in Vavuniya to register information on tenants with themselves as well as the local government agent, the Grama Sevaka.

Speaking at a meeting on Sunday at the Vavuniya Maha Vithiyalam, the police also told residents to be vigilant and provide information on any new people coming to villages.

Since the Easter Sunday bombings by Islamist extremists, the police have sought to garner information on new arrivals as well as existing households.

Over 250 people were killed when suicide bombers attacked luxury hotels and churches.
