Namal Rajapaksa accuses West of joining with the LTTE

The MP for Hambantota Namal Rajapaksa has accused western countries of joining “LTTE terrorists” to create secessionism and to make Sri Lanka “their centre in South Asia”.

Speaking at an election rally in Rajagiriya, the son of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, claimed that Sri Lanka was the only country in South Asia where people could live in freedom.

“Some Western nations have joined with the LTTE terrorists and have created a secessionist struggle in this country and are trying to make Sri Lanka their centre in the South Asian region,” the 27-year-old parliamentarian said at the rally on Sunday.

“In all of South Asia this is the only country that supplies electricity 24 hours a day. Unemployment is lowest in our country. Economic development is highest in our country. Of the countries that are most suitable to live in, ours is the cleanest. I must remind you that our country is the only one where you can live in freedom. This is the reality. Some people in our country, and people abroad, cannot bear this.”
