'Muslims and Tamils' are trying to take over Sri Lanka says BJP

Bodu Bala Sena monks decided to run in the general election because “Muslim and Tamil individuals are trying to take over” Sri Lanka, said, the Bodu Jana Peramuna (BJP) leader.

Speaking to Ceylon Today, Galagodaaththe Gnanasera, said,

Furthermore, when we attempted to inform the people regarding this, we did not get a satisfactory response from the government. Also, there is no reason for the BBS to align with another party because our policies are different from other political parties. We should raise a voice to protect the Sinhalese and to make the Sinhalese strong.

Stressing the need to have a significant number of Buddhist monks in parliament, Gnanasera, added,

“Developing a country does not mean only constructing highways and buildings. Do any of these parties have a programme to develop the nation? Furthermore, the BBS has to enter Parliament to continue our programme to ensure that Muslims will not take over this country in the near future.”

At least 36 Buddhist monks are expected to contest at the upcoming general elections.
