Mullaitivu residents protest against lack of doctors

Locals in Mullaitivu staged a protest in front of the general hospital in town last week, demonstrating against the lack of staff and demanding the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health take action.

Protestors expressed their disappointment and anger at the lack of health services available to locals, including a shortage of doctors and other healthcare staff.

Despite the district having suffered from armed conflict, including repeated bombardment from the Sri Lankan military, and a tsunami, residents said they continue to suffer from poor access to healthcare.
