Mannar residents accuse military of dumping trash in released land

Residents in Mannar accused Sri Lankan military personnel of dumping trash in private land which was recently released.

The land on Mannar-Jaffna main road, in Navatkulam, Thiruketheeswaram was released a few years ago after many years of military occupation.

"Trash is being brought from the army camp and army posts nearby and being dumped and burned there," one resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Tamil Guardian.

"We've seen clothes, caps, notebooks and medical supplies used by the military being dumped," he added.

Residents have requested local authorities to take action.
