TNA parliamentarian Sivasakthy Ananthan and Northern Provincial Council members attended the ceremony, where lamps were lit at 6.05pm, the exact time that the first LTTE cadre Lt Shankar died in 1982.

Held in front of the Ponguthamil monument in Vavuniya people lined up to place flowers before a makeshift tombstone.
