German prosecutors to extradite self-exiled Catalonia leader

German prosecutors called for Catalionia’s self-exiled leader Carles Puigdemont to be extradited on Spain on rebellion charges.

Carles Puigdemont, who was arrested in Germany whilst travelling from Finland to Belgium, and is being held on an international arrest warrant from Spain.

German prosecutors said that Mr Puigdemont would remain in custody pending final confmiraiton of the extradition form the regional court, which will make a final ruling in the upcoming days, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The German government has the option to block any extradition with a political veto, however last week Chancellor Angela Merkel said the government would not interfere with the judiciary.
