Fourth anniversary of Tamilselvan’s death commemorated in Europe

Events were held in Coventry, Britain and Berlin, Germany to remember the LTTE’s political leader Brigadier S.P. Tamilselvan and the five soldiers who were killed with him on 2nd November 2007.

The event in Coventry was named “Nithiya Punnakai Arasan” to denote the ever smiling political leader who was killed by the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF).

Both events began with the lighting of the traditional lamp, which was followed by a minute silence to pay respect to those who have lost their lives. Crowds then lined up to pay their respects by laying flowers and placing garlands on the photos of the soldiers.

In Germany, the German Arts and Culture Association, "Illansooriyan", performed songs and dances commemorating the sacrifices made by the leaders.

The five other cadres who died in the attack were:

Muthukumar Sowntharakrishnan known as Lieutenant Col. Anbumani
Tharmarasa Vijayakumar known as Major. Mikunthan
Karunanithi Vasanthakumar known as Major. Kalaiyarasan
Panchadcharam Kajeepan known as Lieutenant. Aadchivel
Muthukumara kurukkal Srigayatrinatha sarma known as Lieutenant Maavaikumaran.
