Final preparations for Maaveerar Naal underway across Mullaitivu

Final preparations are underway at ten Thuyilum Illams across Mullaitivu although Sri Lankan security forces have stepped up their presence in the region.

At Iranapalai Thuyilum Illam, the parents and relatives of fallen LTTE cadres have been cleaning and preparing Thuyilum Illams in Mullaitivu ahead of Maaveerar Naal remembrance events.

At 06.05pm tomorrow, bells will be rung and flames lit across the region to honour those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for liberation.

Earlier today, preparations were completed at Vanni Vilankulam Thuyilum Illam and the sixth day of Maaveerar remembrance week was marked. Flowers were laid and lamps were lit by the remnants of destroyed LTTE gravestones.

Visuvamadu Theravil Thuyilum Illam has also been cleaned and prepared for Maaveerar Naal tomorrow where the Tamil nation will remember fallen fighters.
