Exhibition in Melbourne highlights Tamil Genocide

Australian Parliamentarian Don Nardella

An exhibition in Melbourne, detailing the Tamil genocide, was attended by over one hundred people.

Don Nardella, Member of Parliament for the Australian Labor Party and secretary to the leader of the opposition spoke at the event and said the exhibition will open the eyes of the Australian people, and Steve Campbell of the Democratic Labor Party called on the organisers of the event to take the exhibition across Australia.

Prominent criminal lawyer Robert Stary, who has successfully defended Australian Tamils from terror charges, said that Australia is complicit in the genocide of Tamils and added that the world would agree that there was a genocide and Tamils would live in peace in their own homeland.

Trevor Grant, head of the Tamil Refugee Council and journalist, read stories of survivors of the genocide.

The exhibition will continue until the 30th of May at the Collingwood Gallery in Melbourne.

Sri Lanka is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. Tamil journalists are particularly at threat, with at least 41 media workers known to have been killed by the Sri Lankan state or its paramilitaries during and after the armed conflict.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
