Disabled former cadre attacked at her Kilinochchi home

A former LTTE cadre has been attacked by unidentified persons at her home in Kilinochchi, after they entered her house demanding to know the whereabouts of her husband.

The Uthayan reported that mother of two Anuskumar Sumathi was at her home in Kilinochchi Selvanagar, in front of the Nagampiran Temple, when several unidentified men on motorcycles arrived. The attackers made their way into the house and began assaulting Sumathi with wooden logs, demanding information on her husband. They fled after neighbours gathered outside the house, hearing the victim's screams.

Sumathi, who has since been admitted to Kilinochchi General Hospital due to her injuries, said she did not know who the men were, according to the Uthayan. Both her and her husband are former LTTE cadres, but her husband now lives abroad.

Sumathi, who now lives with her parents, is also disabled, immobilised from injuries sustained during the armed conflict.
