Buddhist ceremony as new Sri Lankan brigadier takes charge in East

A Buddhist ceremony was held by the Sri Lankan military in the East earlier this month to mark the appointment of a new Brigadier General Staff.

Brig B A L Ratnayake was appointed to the position of Brigadier General Staff of the Sri Lankan security forces in the East on the 17th of August.

A delegation of Buddhist monks were invited to perform a religious ceremony at the military headquarters to mark the occasion.

The Brigadier was promoted to his current rank by Sri Lanka's former president Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2013.
