The Sri Lankan navy was blessed by monks at a grand Buddhist ceremony on Thursday at the city of Anuradhapura, considered sacred by Sinhala Buddhists to mark its 64th anniversary.

The ceremony, attended by Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera. Mrs. Shalika Perera, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena, senior officers and navy personnel, included the blessing of the Sri Lankan flag, the Buddhist flag, the Naval Ensign, and Navy command flags.
