Brother-in-law of Rishad Bathiudeen released on bail

Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother-in-law, who had been detained in relation to the murder of a domestic worker, has been released on bail by Colombo Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala.

The court has ordered a bail of Rs 500,000 and for his passport to be surrendered to the court. There has been no additional information provided on the detention of the former Minister’s wife, who was also arrested in connection to the domestic workers death. Bathiudeen’s brother has also been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for alleged involvement in the Easter Sunday attacks.

In April members for the All Ceylon Makkal Congress(ACMC) protested in Mannar against the continued detention of Bathiudeen.
