British MP demands sanctions on Shavendra Silva

British MP, Virendra Sharma, has joined a number of prominent British MPs who and Tamil activists who have called on the UK Foreign Secretary to impose Magnitsky style sanctions on Sri Lankan army commander, Shavendra Silva.

Sharma urged the UK to take similar action to the US in imposing sanctions against Silva and maintained that such a decision would be “a significant step forwards in terms of accountability” and "an opportunity for the UK Government to prove its commitment to deliver justice to the victims of Genocide in Sri Lanka”.

“Tamils in Ealing, Southall, across the UK and around the world deserve justice” he further stated.
